BSC (Hons.) – LTA Accredited + Level 4 Senior Club Coach
I have been involved in tennis and a member of BLTC for over 20 years. I have been involved in coaching from as young as 15 starting as an Assistant Coach before completing my LTA Level 4 qualification in September 2021. I’ve now been coaching at Byfleet as well as other venues in and around the South-East for over 15 years. In 2004, I achieved a 1st Class (Hons.) Degree in ‘Sport Science with P.E. in the Community’ from St. Mary’s University. Whilst at University, I was the Tennis Club President and Men’s 1st Team Captain for 2 years.
My coaching at BLTC consists of a varied mix of junior groups, adult individuals and junior individuals. I also run the Wednesday evening ‘Adult Fun Training’ and weekly ‘Junior Club Night’ on a Friday afternoon and have done for many years. Off court, I’m responsible for organising the Junior Camps during the School Holidays. I have also organised the annual BLTC Adult and Junior Club Championship’s.
Playing wise, I have played and competed since I joined the club when I was 14 years old. I progressed through the teams to eventually playing regularly for the Men’s 1st Team in both the National and Surrey League competitions. I then successfully captained the Men’s 1st Team in the National League for 8 consecutive years leading the team to 3 promotions, whilst avoiding any relegations. My World Tennis Number currently sits at 9.6 (Singles) and 10.1 (Doubles). I have been successful in winning many events within the club as well as outside the club. Most memorable was when I won the BLTC Championships ‘triple’ (Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles) in 2011.
Outside of tennis, I am a member of the P.G.M.O.L. (Professional Game of Match Officials Limited), operating as an Assistant Referee in the Football League. I enjoy the occasional round of golf, spending time with family and socialising with friends.
If you would like to contact me for lessons or anything tennis related, please feel free to get in touch and I look forward to seeing you on the court.
I am a Level 3 LTA Accredited Plus qualified coach and have 8 years coaching experience. I am in charge of the Mini Tennis programme at Byfleet LTC which has been successfully growing since 2018.
I started coaching at the age of 15 as an assistant coach, getting actively involved in the mini tennis program at BLTC. Whilst training as a coach I attended St Mary’s University, and achieved a 1st Class Honours in Sports Coaching Science. This has given me extensive knowledge in psychology, bio-mechanics, video analysis and physiology. During this time I was Vice president and Team Captain for the Tennis Team for 2 years.
I actively try to keep my competitive level up playing for the teams at the club, as well as reaching both the Men’s Doubles Final in 2018 and Mixed Doubles Final in 2019 and 2020 in the Club Championships.
I focus on both individual and group sessions for all ages and strive to ensure everyone enjoys and improves during the lessons. I want to encourage players to overcome the stress of competing in matches with techniques I have learnt and implemented with great success. I am responsible for running our Thursday Doubles on Thursdays.
I am always looking to expand my coaching knowledge and in the near future would like to bring disability tennis to Byfleet LTC.
